"Belonging to an illustrious family in Nevers, France, William DonJeon was made a canon first in Soissons then in Paris. Soon after, he felt the call to become a Cistercian monk. So sweet, humble, and austere a sould could not remain hidden, and he was chosen abbot. However, the archbishop of Bourges died and three Cistercian abbots were voted upon to be his successor..."
